About Me

Welcome!

About Me:
I am a 26-year-old working professional who is happily married to a grad student.  Although I've lived most of my life in the South, I look forward to being able to travel the world at some point in the future.  I have a wide variety of interests, including (but not limited to) books and reading, hiking, white-water rafting, crafting (crochet, cross-stitch, sewing), gaming and game news, graphic design, and animals.

About the Grad Student:
John began a health sciences research-focused PhD program in the Fall of 2012.  This first year consists of taking general classes and choosing which research labs he would like to work in.  As can be imagined, he spends much of his free time studying, although he is generally happy to take a break to take Honey for a walk.

About the Family:
We have one pet, an adopted mixed beagle named Honey, who is most of the time incredibly lazy, but puts up with us when we force her on long walks.  Her mother was a beagle mix taken to a shelter while pregnant.  She then gave birth to a litter of puppies at the shelter, which called a local no-kill shelter to take both mom and puppies.  The canine family then went into foster care, and 7 weeks later we adopted and brought home this little girl.  Now two years old (going on three), she spends her days guarding the house, otherwise known as sleeping in the front window.

I can't imagine this would all be interesting to anyone, but I wanted some kind of record of our time going through grad school.
